BORY 02. Project at IBUG in Chemnitz

Painted wooden sculpture and photography (paste-ups)
Chemnitz, Germany 2025

BORY 02 is a continuation of the BORY series initiated earlier this year at ANEKS GSW Opole. First introduced during the exhibition at Galeria Sztuki Współczesnej w Opolu, the project explores the spatial memory and visual structures of Bory Niemodlińskie, translating forest landscapes into sculptural and architectural forms.

Presented during ibug 2025 in Chemnitz, BORY 02 developed intuitively. The work emerged spontaneously after encountering the raw interior space of the building, allowing the architecture itself to shape the final composition.

The installation consists of a painted wooden sculpture and two photographic paste-ups created from images taken in Bory Niemodlińskie. Together, these elements expand the dialogue between natural environment and post-industrial context, a central theme of the BORY project.

We are inspired by the diversity of nature, its constant transformation, processes of decay, and traces of human intervention. We aim to create a space that reflects our perspective on this forest landscape, one filled with peculiarities and mysteries.

While our BORY project focuses on exploring the singularity of nature and its enigmatic atmosphere, it is impossible to avoid the question: when walking through areas that once housed prisoner-of-war camps, is it possible to experience the forest without acknowledging its historical weight? This question resonates for us as well with the space at Scheffelstraße 110, which like the mentioned forest, is also deeply touched by history.

Special thanks to Manu for support with the woodwork, and to the entire IBUG team for their trust and collaboration in creating this unique moment.
